I've always loved creating and crafting. I started making soap and the novelty candles that looked like apple, blueberry, pecan, strawberry pies and all kinds of drinks using gel and paraffin wax. I made brownies with a scoop of ice cream on top, birthday cakes, grubby candles and fish bowls using gel wax.
My first business was named Flickers Candle Shop back in the early 90's and I sold my products wholesale, we went to all the festivals and farmers markets and had several booths at a local craft mall for years.
Flickers Candle Shop became an online web store in 2000 and I sold online, at festivals, craft shows and opened a store on Etsy in 2010, where I sold jar candles and wax melts, smelly jellies, room sprays, soap and scented potpourri.
I started selling fragrance oils to other soap and candlemakers and created a shop called Flickers Fragrances and during this time soy wax was introduced into the candle making industry.
I closed Flickers when my kids started sports and all the school activities that come with 3 boys. I was their shuttle bus and biggest cheerleader and had the best time watching them grow.
After my kids had grown, I decided to get back into what I love, making wax! I decided to open a shop on Etsy and that's how Back Home Scents came to be. I felt like I was back home crafting again.
Over the years my business has evolved and the products I make have changed but my love for making strong, scented wax hasn't. I use a blend of soy and paraffin wax and the best quality fragrance oils that I can find.
